The Dowbrigade’s day job is in danger. After four waves of layoff’s,
\n we are now the full time Senior Fellow with the least seniority – 15
\n years.  The problem lies in who we teach – foreign graduate students.
\n   They just aren’t come to the US in the numbers they were before
\n 9\/11.  Our enrollemnt has fallen to less than half. Many students
\n are going instead to Canada or Australia, or studying in their home countries. An
\n article in today’s Boston
\n Globe<\/a> explains why…<\/em><\/p>\n

WASHINGTON — Leading educators called on the government yesterday
\n to roll back
\n new
\n security
\n measures
\n they say
\n have
\n caused a substantial
\n dip in the number of international graduate students studying in the
\n United States.<\/p>\n

Arguing that the visa process is bogged down by unnecessary interviews
\n and repetitive checks, the educators said the restrictions implemented
\n in response to the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, are crisis-driven
\n and should be reconsidered.<\/p>\n
