{"id":2457,"date":"2004-07-19T18:17:14","date_gmt":"2004-07-19T22:17:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/dbnews\/2004\/07\/19\/dnc-blowing-blog-horn-big-letdown-inev"},"modified":"2004-07-19T18:17:14","modified_gmt":"2004-07-19T22:17:14","slug":"dnc-blowing-blog-horn-big-letdown-inevitable","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/dowbrigade\/2004\/07\/19\/dnc-blowing-blog-horn-big-letdown-inevitable\/","title":{"rendered":"DNC Blowing Blog Horn &#8211; Big Letdown Inevitable"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a name='a3535'><\/a><\/p>\n<table width=\"537\" border=\"0\">\n<tr>\n<td>\n<p><font color=\"#CC3300\" size=\"+1\"><strong>NCC Grants Coverage Access to Bloggers<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n<p>        <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cyber.law.harvard.edu\/blogs\/static\/dowbrigade\/dncon.jpg\" width=\"249\" height=\"221\" align=\"left\">The Democratic National Convention Committee is granting unprecedented<br \/>\n            access to the authors of online web logs, more commonly known as<br \/>\n            &quot;blogs.&quot; The inclusion of bloggers will offer the public unfiltered<br \/>\n            access to the energy and excitement that will be created by the 2004<br \/>\n            Democratic National Convention.<\/p>\n<p>      &quot;The implications are enormous, and it is a very important<br \/>\n      first step by the DNC to allow bloggers there,&quot; said Blaise Zerega, Managing<br \/>\n      Editor of<br \/>\n        Wired Magazine, appearing on CNBC&#8217;s Bullseye.The credentialing of bloggers<br \/>\n        is an exciting new direction in the coverage of political conventions.<br \/>\n        &quot;It&#8217;s recognition that bloggers are as influential, if not more influential<br \/>\n        in many cases, than mainstream media. Bloggers&quot; &#8211; because of [the] unedited,<br \/>\n        instant opinion [they provide] are breathing fresh air into print journalism,&quot;<br \/>\n        Zerega continued.<\/p>\n<p>        Blogs provide their readers with a constantly updated analysis of a diverse<br \/>\n        spectrum of topics. In the excitement of an election year, many political<br \/>\n        blogs are becoming very popular. Zerega notes that blog readers are &quot;passionate<br \/>\n        and engaged.
