Norma Yvonne refers to meteorologists as "mentirologos" (liarists),
\n for their tendency to turn every possible snow, rain or wind storm into
\n civil defense apocolypse and sending the terrified citizenry rushing
\n to hardware stores and Targets for shovels, salt and drinking water.
\n Perhaps they would be a bit more circumspect in their prediction if we
\n adopted some hard-line accountability from our Russian brothers…..<\/em><\/p>\n

\n who get their predictions wrong could face stiff fines if
\n one government
\n minister
\n has
\n his way.
\n Repeat
\n offenders
\n could
\n even be sent to jail if Emergency Minister Situations Minister Sergei
\n Shoigu
\n gets his way.<\/p>\n

The minister was speaking in Irkutsk, which is on flood alert. He said
\n he wanted weathermen to pay the price if they got forecasts wrong, because
\n that led to emergency services being needlessly called out.<\/p>\n

\n If there is a disaster we send rescuers and equipment and spend money.
\n But weathermen hold no responsibility – and do not think about having to
\n defend the population."<\/p>\n

Weathermen in Irkutsk have said the risk of flooding should subside soon.
\n But according to Interfax, Shoigu "promised to squeeze compensation
\n out of the weather forecasters if their forecasts proved wrong".<\/p>\n
