{"id":2121,"date":"2004-02-21T09:17:10","date_gmt":"2004-02-21T13:17:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/dbnews\/2004\/02\/21\/no-comment\/"},"modified":"2004-02-21T09:17:10","modified_gmt":"2004-02-21T13:17:10","slug":"no-comment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/dowbrigade\/2004\/02\/21\/no-comment\/","title":{"rendered":"No Comment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a name='a2726'><\/a><\/p>\n<table width=\"537\" border=\"0\">\n<tr>\n<td width=\"537\">\n<p>Our friends and fellow bloggers tell us we should be thankful<br \/>\n        that the Dowbrigade News receives so few comments after our postings.<br \/>\n        Our all-time high water mark was six comments, on a posting of questionable<br \/>\n        taste, and three of those comments were from the Dowbrigade&#8217;s Mom, drawing<br \/>\n        attention to that fact.<\/p>\n<p>So we have always taken that as a sort of back-handed compliment and<br \/>\n      felt uncomfortably unendowed in the comments category. Why is it that our readers<br \/>\n      largely refrain from commenting on our efforts? Is is because of the humorous<br \/>\n      nature of the material (typical comment: &quot;Ha ha, very funny&quot;)? Is it because<br \/>\n        our pieces speak for themselves and require no commentary? Or is it that<br \/>\n        the majority of our readers can&#8217;t really write at all, and mostly come<br \/>\n      to look at the pictures?<\/p>\n<p>Our outlook was altered, however, when blogbuddy <a href=\"http:\/\/grumet.net\/weblog\/archives\/2004\/02\/19\/000646.html\">Andrew<br \/>\n          Grumet<\/a> reported<br \/>\n        being attacked by a nasty &quot; slow-moving, multi-ip address using comment<br \/>\n      robot&quot;. Being a<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/dowbrigade\/stories\/storyReader$367\"> digital<br \/>\n      idiot<\/a>, the Dowbrigade has no idea what that actually<br \/>\n      is, other than that it clogs your server and blog with nonsensical comments,<br \/>\n      but it certainly sounds scary. So maybe we are lucky with our dearth of<br \/>\n      commentary.
