In the current case,<br \/>\n        the finalists were Sonya &#8216;Black Widow&#8217; Thomas, a 98-pounder who began<br \/>\n        competitive<br \/>\n        eating<br \/>\n        when she worked at a Burger King in Alexandria Virginia, and Ed &#8216;Cookie&#8217;<br \/>\n        Jarvis, a 406 heavyweight from New York.&nbsp; Of course, the Black Widow<br \/>\n        out-ate the Cookie, 167 wings to 165, in 32 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>This is not the first time we have reported on the Black Widow&#8217;s killer<br \/>\n        track record.&nbsp; In November we carried <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/dowbrigade\/2003\/11\/27#a1921\">a<br \/>\n        story<\/a> about how she wolfed<br \/>\n        down 7-3\/4 pounds of holiday food in 12 minutes to defeat<br \/>\n        a pair of 400-pound rivals and win the Thanksgiving Invitational eating<br \/>\n        contest.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>There<br \/>\n        is obviously some Eastern Mystical Mind Control thing going on here,<br \/>\n        some neural short-curcuit of the gag reflex, which may come natural<br \/>\n        to certain rare individuals but which we are convinced can be taught<br \/>\n        and is passed down from generation to generation in secret eating societies<br \/>\n        who use their skills to unknown ends.&nbsp; Some of these eating contest<br \/>\n        winners may be renegade members of the eating cults seeking to capitalize<br \/>\n        on their occult skills.
