BU wins SOMETHING! As<br \/>\n          <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/dowbrigade\/2003\/08\/19#a696\">posted<br \/>\n          here in August<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/\">Boston<br \/>\n          University <\/a>has been hoping to construct a $1.6<br \/>\n        billion dollar biodefense facility in a crowded low-income neighborhood<br \/>\n        in the Boston area. Neighbors are understandably upset, as the announced<br \/>\n        facility would contain live smallpox, Ebola and plague viruses, as well<br \/>\n        as an additonal assortment of the deadliest pathogens known to man.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Federal health officials are expected to announce today that Boston<br \/>\n        University Medical Center has won a hard-fought national competition<br \/>\n        to build and run a high-security bioterror defense laboratory in the<br \/>\n        heart of the South End, a project with the promise of generating $1.6<br \/>\n        billion in research grants. The lab would be unlike anything Boston&#8217;s<br \/>\n        medical community has ever seen, with extraordinary measures taken to<br \/>\n        assure that lethal<br \/>\n      agents cannot escape. <\/p>\n<p><em>Jeez Louise!! They can&#8217;t even keep a 300-lb gorilla from walking<br \/>\n          out of the Zoo, and they&#8217;re gonna keep track of a few billion microscopic,<br \/>\n        colorless, odorless deadly pathogens?
