{"id":1400,"date":"2003-09-10T11:28:06","date_gmt":"2003-09-10T15:28:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/dbnews\/2003\/09\/10\/us-soccer-star-in-canadian-drug-sting\/"},"modified":"2003-09-10T11:28:06","modified_gmt":"2003-09-10T15:28:06","slug":"us-soccer-star-in-canadian-drug-sting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/dowbrigade\/2003\/09\/10\/us-soccer-star-in-canadian-drug-sting\/","title":{"rendered":"US Soccer Star in Canadian Drug Sting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a name='a1036'><\/a><\/p>\n<table width=\"537\" border=\"0\">\n<tr valign=\"top\">\n<td>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cyber.law.harvard.edu\/blogs\/static\/dowbrigade\/\njmmoore.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" align=\"left\"><em>How could<br \/>\n        I resist a story that combines Soccer, Drugs, Legal Stuff, a Father\/Son<br \/>\n        small business venture, and whatever Joe-Max is up to in that strange<br \/>\n        photo. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>      The government took another shot yesterday in its bid to curb the import<br \/>\n      of Canadian pharmaceuticals, this time aiming at Joe-Max Moore, the all-time<br \/>\n      scoring leader for the New England Revolution. <\/p>\n<p>The soccer player, 32, who lives in Braintree during the season and<br \/>\n        in Florida in the winter, and his father, Carl Moore, of Tulsa, Okla.,<br \/>\n        are the principals of a year-old company called RxDepot Inc., a business<br \/>\n        which runs 85 &quot;storefronts&quot; coast-to-coast where Americans<br \/>\n      can order low-cost prescription drugs from Canadian pharmacies. <\/p>\n<p>In the Moores&#8217; case, Carl Moore said yesterday, RxDepot gets 10 percent<br \/>\n        of all orders placed with the company&#8217;s roster of Canadian pharmacies.<br \/>\n        He estimated revenues at $20,000 a day, on gross daily sales of $200,000<br \/>\n      spread across all 85 US storefronts. <\/p>\n<p><em>Sounds like a pretty sweet business, so far. Turns out the Feds ran a<br \/>\n        sting, ordered 60 Serzone and received 99 pills of a Canadian-approved<br \/>\n        brand<br \/>\n        equivalent  called Apo-Nefazadone, thus the suit.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.boston.com\/business\/globe\/articles\/2003\/09\/10\/drug_order_firm_gets_warning\/\">from the<br \/>\n    Boston Globe<\/a><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How could I resist a story that combines Soccer, Drugs, Legal Stuff, a Father\/Son small business venture, and whatever Joe-Max is up to in that strange photo.
