<\/td>\n For centuries navigators have been searching for the legendary Northwest
\n Passage, a navigable connection between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
\n Scientists have recently speculated that global warming may soon make
\n this possible. Now news that the long-sought passage may have been
\n found – by yellow rubber duckies!\n <\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\n A shipment of 29,000 plastic ducks destined
\n for bathtubs around the country fell
\n from
\n a cargo
\n ship
\n in the
\n Pacific
\n Ocean
\n in 1992.
\n After
\n making
\n it through the Bering Strait, scientists believe, the ducks were trapped
\n by slow-moving Arctic ice for several years before being recently freed
\n into the North Atlantic.<\/p>\n
The company that owns the ducks is offering a reward for the flock’s
\n return. The First Years Inc., of Avon, will give anyone finding one of
\n the missing ducks in New England, Canada, or Iceland before the end of
\n the year a $100 US savings bond. <\/p>\n
