Toba<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>The New York Times<\/em> reliably has good data visualization graphics.\u00a0 Two examples: &#8220;<a title=\"An Accounting of Daily Gun Deaths\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/imagepages\/2007\/04\/21\/weekinreview\/20070422_MARSH_GRAPHIC.html\">An Accounting of Daily Gun Deaths<\/a>&#8220;, by Bill Marsh, and an interactive (Google Maps based) <a title=\"NY Times homicide map\" href=\"http:\/\/projects.nytimes.com\/crime\/homicides\/map\">homicide map<\/a> of the five boroughs.<\/p>\n<p>Juice Analytics has a treemap-based visualization of the <a title=\"Juice Analytics treemap view of the stimulus package\" href=\"http:\/\/recoveryact.juiceanalytics.com\/treemap\">US federal government&#8217;s stimulus package<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>A German energy company is promoting recycling with a clever <a title=\"Spam Recycling\" href=\"http:\/\/www.spamrecycling.com\/open.php?reqVersion=8&amp;redirectURL=open.php&amp;senderid=&amp;mode=5\">spam visualization tool<\/a>.\u00a0 Send them your spam email and watch them recycle it into something beautiful.\u00a0 Or at least something else.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/flowingdata.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/yapb_cache\/picture_2.8y3glr5fxa0w8wsww80g48w80.9xgbnoosx68s4ok4sw448cwc4.th.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-450 alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/cqtwo\/files\/2009\/07\/yfd-300x236.jpg\" alt=\"Your Flowing Data\" width=\"300\" height=\"236\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/cqtwo\/files\/2009\/07\/yfd-300x236.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/cqtwo\/files\/2009\/07\/yfd.jpeg 545w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Niel Bornstein turned me onto Nathan Yau&#8217;s <a title=\"Flowing Data\" href=\"http:\/\/flowingdata.com\/2009\/07\/15\/collect-data-about-yourself-with-twitter-your-flowingdata-is-live\/\">Flowing Data<\/a> (above), which uses <a title=\"CQ2 on Twitter\" href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/cq2\">Twitter<\/a> to log information that can then be analyzed and presented in a variety of ways.\u00a0 I&#8217;m experimenting with it now.<\/p>\n<p>Good Data has an interesting, and free, <a title=\"Good Data for Amazon Cloudfront\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gooddata.com\/products\/good-data-for-amazon-cloudfront\/\">analytical service<\/a> for Amazon&#8217;s <a title=\"AWS (Amazon) CDN: Cloudfront\" href=\"http:\/\/aws.amazon.com\/cloudfront\/\">Cloudfront <\/a>content delivery network with canned reports; presumably this can be extended to other cloud services.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, <a title=\"Widgenie\" href=\"http:\/\/widgenie.com\/overview.html\">Widgenie<\/a> provides tools for visualization for all kinds of data.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Journey of Mankind is a simple timeline &amp;
