It\u2019s that time of year\u2026<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
When the seasons start changing and Mother Nature can\u2019t make up her mind.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 Case in point \u2013 early last week it was 80 degrees and sunny, then by mid-week it was in the 50s, then it went back up to the mid-70s, and now it\u2019s back down to the 50s.\u00a0 Hellooooo Boston.\u00a0 The way I see it, though, there are two benefits to this kind of weather.\u00a0 1) It never allows us to take the nice days for granted.\u00a0 When it\u2019s 75 and sunny, everyone is outside lounging away on beach towels in the Quad or down by the River.\u00a0 2) It gives my sunburns a chance to heal\u2026 rough.<\/p>\n When classes start to wrap up.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 Yes, that\u2019s right, this coming Wednesday is our last day of class and then Harvard students around campus will enter Reading Period.\u00a0 Reading Period can mean one of two things.\u00a0 It can either mean a 10-day vacation if you\u2019re something like a math or science concentrator, or it can mean a 10-day sleep strike if you\u2019re a humanities concentrator and find yourself writing five papers.\u00a0 Luckily, my schedule this year has offered me spread out Reading and Finals Periods.\u00a0 I have a paper due this Tuesday, another paper due next week, and then two finals several days apart.<\/p>\n When stress and excitement levels run high.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 There occurs this strange dichotomy where while I\u2019m feeling incredibly stressed about major papers and finals, I am also feeling incredibly excited about the summer!!!\u00a0 This summer I will be working for the Phillips Brooks House Association\u2019s (PBHA\u2019s) Summer Urban Program (or SUP).\u00a0 SUP is a series of camps in neighboring communities throughout Boston that helps to fight summer learning loss in low-income children.\u00a0 Just as PBHA is student-led, SUP is too, which means that Harvard students have been working their butts off all semester long getting ready for this summer.\u00a0 I\u2019ll be working Full Time SUPport (get it?), which means I\u2019ll be behind the scenes helping out all of the camps.\u00a0 Get ready for lots<\/em> of blog posts in the coming months about SUP.\u00a0 One final plug to the incoming freshmen \u2013 JOIN PBHA and then WORK SUP!!!!\u00a0 I promise you it won\u2019t be a decision you regret.<\/p>\n When I\u2019m starting to dread the prospect of packing up all of my stuff. <\/em><\/strong>\u00a0It took me long enough to un<\/em>pack and make my beautiful single look just the way I want, and now I\u2019m going to have to find some way of packing all of this stuff back up and sticking it in Currier storage.\u00a0 I really don\u2019t want to write anymore about it, it\u2019s all too painful to contemplate.<\/p>\n When I begin to desperately text friends to grab a final meal or coffee before everyone leaves campus!<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 It\u2019s that time of year when I\u2019m looking back and remembering all those times I ran into \u201cthis person from class\u201d or \u201cthat person from my freshman dorm\u201d or \u201cthe person that OMG I love but I haven\u2019t seen in AGES\u201d<\/em> and I\u2019m realizing that I only actually grabbed my promised meals with maybe half of them.\u00a0 This means that I still have a lot of people to go, and not a lot of time left!\u00a0 Ahhhh!<\/p>\n When House formals go on the calendar!<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 Each House has its own Spring Formal, which, depending on who you know in which Houses, can mean a lot<\/em> of formals to go to.\u00a0 So much fun!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
