More on Haneke
I just read over at MilkPlus that Michael Haneke, when asked who is the most important director working today, chose Abbas Kiarostami. I knew it! Time of the Wolf’s use of darkness, the use of that last shot off the train (which immediately brought to mind the relief-for-the-viewer-only ending of Taste of Cherry), its amazing sound design … all Kiarostami-like. Formally, at least.

Hey, are you going to join our merry little band? 🙂
i’d like to, but the problem is that i can’t be counted on to post about film once a week even on this blog, much less somewhere else…so am still thinking…
No rush. Sorry about the double post in comments. I’m so impatient and I like to click my mouse alot.
If you like Haneke’s movies, yo should see “Funny Games”. It was at the Cannes festival some years ago, and I think it is a masterpiece. But as an advisory warning : it is also a very violent film (of course its more a form of “intellectualized” violence, but it certainly have more impact on the viewer that many “violent” film that we can see nowadays…)
i’ve heard about the film and am afraid to see it
