We still have no idea what Gather is, but we know they make money through advertising.\n<li>Apparently, they&#8217;re local. Is it worth asking them to come? Gather is supposedly the next big tech thing.\n<\/ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/amandawatlington.typepad.com\/\">Amanda Watlington<\/a> on blogs and search engines and stuff\n<ul><Li>AW started off by having us write down some things describing out blogs<br \/>\n<Li>Search engines want to deliver relevant, recently updated content<\/p>\n<li>Search engines look for keywords and links for relevancy\n<li>Hub, authority, and communities are important for getting traffic, getting ranked and included in search engines.\n<li>Joining a community can be one way to disambiguate your blog.\n<ul>\n<li>Writing about apples? The fruit or the machine?<\/ul>\n<li>&#8216;Click here&#8217; in links is meaningless. Anchor text is really important.\n<li>Strategic linking can build the value of your blog.\n<li>Prominance, density, and reader\n<ul>\n<li>Titles (including post names) count, position on page, headlines (H1, etc., tags), description metadata\n<\/ul>\n<li>Use a keyword tool, like <a href=\"http:\/\/inventory.overture.com\/d\/searchinventory\/suggestion\/\">Overture&#8217;s Keyword Selector Tool<\/a>. List relevant terms. Keep them in mind as you write.\n<li>Use 2-3 keywords per post. If you can start a title with a keyword, do it.\n<li>Shelf life ends. You won&#8217;t always be number one. You must work to keep up a ranking.\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nichebot.com\/\">NicheBot<\/a>\n<li>Google&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/adwords.google.com\/select\/main?cmd=KeywordSandbox\">tool examining ad relevance<\/a>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.searchingforprofit.com\/jam.mht\">slides<\/a>\n<\/ul>\n<p><Li>Announcement: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.49media.com\/p=44_eventid=1127388633727060\">Vlogger gathering<\/a>, Sunday, October 9, 6 pm<\/p>\n<li>Reminder: upcoming topics:\n<ul>\n<li><strike>Tuesday 10\/11: A guest blogger you won&#8217;t want to miss: <a href=\"http:\/\/hoder.com\/weblog\/\">Hoder<\/a>! with a potential appearance on 10\/13.
