That&#8217;s a welcome story, and&nbsp;indicates the success of last year&#8217;s ICANN reform process.&nbsp; Key issues:&nbsp; <\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/www.icann.org\/carthage\/wildcard-topic.htm\"><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">DNS wildcards<\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">, <\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/www.gacsecretariat.org\/web\/meetings\/mtg17\/ipv6_workshop.shtml\"><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">IPv6<\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">, <\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/www.icann.org\/carthage\/whois-workshop-agenda.htm\"><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">Whois<\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">, <\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/secsac.icann.org\"><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">security<\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">, new top-level domains.&nbsp;<\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<P dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">This is the first <\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/www.icann.org\/calendar.htm\"><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">ICANN meeting<\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\"> I&#8217;ve ever missed, and it feels weird to be so far from the action.&nbsp; I&#8217;ll be following via <\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/www.icann.org\/carthage\/#webcast\"><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">webcast<\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\"> later this week.&nbsp; A big shout out to the ICANN crew:&nbsp;&nbsp;Boo-ya!&nbsp; It&#8217;s great to see the organization in such solid shape.&nbsp; The new leadership team is settling in quickly, striking out in new and useful directions, and doing an excellent job so far.&nbsp; Notably, <\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/www.icann.org\/biog\/twomey.htm\"><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">CEO Paul Twomey<\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\"> has devoted considerable resources to increasing participation from developing countries.&nbsp; And indeed, I&#8217;m happy to note that the Carthage <\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/www.icann.org\/carthage\/#ScheduleandAgenda\"><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">schedule<\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">&nbsp;is full of <\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/www.icanncarthage.tn\/en\/isoc.htm\"><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">workshops<\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\"> and more <\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/www.icann.org\/carthage\/alac-workshop-agenda.htm\"><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">workshops<\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\"> and <\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/www.gacsecretariat.org\/web\/meetings\/mtg17\/arab_africa_workshop.shtml\"><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">regional meetings<\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\"> and more <\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/www.icann.org\/carthage\/alac-ap-topic.htm\"><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">regional meetings<\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">&nbsp;at least partially focused on the imperative of internationalization in policymaking for the Internet&#8217;s systems of unique identifiers.<\/FONT><\/P><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The latest news from the ICANN meeting in Carthage&nbsp;is that substantive issues, rather than organizational hoopla,&nbsp;are dominating the agenda and the discussions.&nbsp;
