Why take a gas-guzzling Lincoln when you can ride a hybrid &#8212;<br \/>\nespecially when a hybrid &#8220;idling&#8221; at the taxi stand automatically shuts<br \/>\noff?\n<\/p>\n<p>Mission-driven entrepreneurship &#8212; I love these kinds of companies. Can <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/tg\/detail\/-\/0684862190\/qid=1089760741\/\">capitalism have a soul<\/a>? I sure hope so.\n<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, I&#8217;ve already signed the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.planettran.com\/hybrid.html\">petition<\/a> for the Cambridge License Commission to grant PlanetTran five new taxi medallions.\n<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ll try to book this service to get to Logan on Friday morning<br \/>\n(leaving town for Rachel&#8217;s family reunion) and will post our experience<br \/>\nif we succeed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PlanetTran strikes me as the kind of company those of us who care about social and environmental issues should be supporting, and heck, founding.
