We don&#8217;t do the schmaltz that DC specializes in, and we have a real sense of history here. (We are the home of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.patriots.com\/\">Patriots<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.revolutionsoccer.net\/\">Revolution<\/a>, after all!). Well, maybe the Boston Pops are a <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">little <\/span>schmaltzy, and sure it&#8217;s a bit odd that the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/1812_Overture\">traditional fireworks music<\/a> features the French and Russian national anthems, but hey&#8230; that&#8217;s <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">tradition<\/span>.<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here&#8217;s a picture of workers hanging up flags around the Hatchshell I took last night on the Fiedler Footbridge while biking home.
