The committee is composed of 3 subcommittees: assessment, peer review, and learning spaces. Each subcommittee chair presented what the subcommittee has worked on so far and its goals for the academic year. Below is a compiled list of what was discussed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Learning Spaces<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>General Issues On Which to Focus:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Access to Power<\/li>\n<li>Blackboards vs. Whiteboards<\/li>\n<li>Internet Access<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Classroom Design Issue<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Projectors over blackboards<\/li>\n<li>Walk through of rooms to figure out what works best (SC rooms)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Goals for the year<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Document to describe issues with space<\/li>\n<li>Prioritized list of short-term vs. long-term goals<\/li>\n<li>Statement to get Faculty and students involved<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Peer Support<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Support vs. review aspect\n<ul>\n<li>Needs to be support to get support (haha) from faculty<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Peer Support groups consist of 2-3 faculty each, observe class rooms<\/li>\n<li>Reports would be written up\n<ul>\n<li>Should they go into faculty dossiers?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Also write-up executive summary about course (as opposed to professor)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Goals for the year<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Review series of models to choose best way to implement peer support<\/li>\n<li>Need recommendation of fundamental principles of PS<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Assessment<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Expand quantitative assessment beyond CUE\n<ul>\n<li>Perhaps add another quantitative number that would work w\/ CUE<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Need better way to use the data that we have<\/li>\n<li>Concept tests (basic tests to test fundamental knowledge)\n<ul>\n<li>Grades \u2260 learning<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Goals for the year<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Need something to give Mike at end of spring with lots of statistics about how best to implement assessment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Notes:<\/p>\n<p>January meeting has been cancelled in favor of subcommittee meetings.
